Now I am currently completing a blog titled Somatic Gene Therapy. I am pleased to visit your blog. Check out the work of Geron Corp, and also the paper by Mohammed Kashani-Sabet who studied telomerase's apparent ability to activate anaerobic glycolysis in melanoma cells,, and the cells either dying or converting to normal respiration when telomerase was inhibited.
Geron also uses telomerase to grow more stable stem cells. They are also working with Merck on a telomerase targeting cancer vaccine at Geron. Check out the papers on the fairly recent discovery of nano tunnels that connect human cells, even T cells. I believe it explains why dyed stem cells injected into the body are able to heal other cells outside the dyed area. Researchers have viewed mitochondria and other organelles moving through these tunnels cell to cell, as well as DNA moving through. How could drug or immune therapy differentiate between a senescent cell and a senescent stem cell,,which surface marker? type of respiration perhaps?
